Xocolat: How Sweet

Filipinos are known to be hospitable. We are always pleased  to welcome visitors be it a relative, friend or even a stranger. On the other hand, we have also valued the essence of bringing pasalubong if we are going to visit another place so that the people who will welcome us may feel our gratefulness or kindness in return.

I've been staying in Davao for 4 years already and I've been meaning to explore all cafes and restaurants in the area. Since I always stay at home in Manila, I can honestly say that it'll be easier for me to tour a friend in Davao than in my own hometown. Okay, back to my point. My friend visited Davao and I got this very adorable and seductive chocolate - Xocolat.

Why adorable? Look at this sleek and elegant box! The branches of Xocolat are in Metro Manila and QC (the ones I know of), I rarely go there so I'm not very familiar with souvenir or pasalubong shops there. It just look so presentable and I really love the packaging.

Have me. 
Consume me.
Love me.

These are the 6 words that made me think of seduction. This chocolate is so inviting. Kahon pa lang yan ah! That's effective advertising. Now since it's my first time to receive such, I didn't keep it to myself and decided to share it with my friends.

It's composed of 6 gigantic chocolate bars/brownies that are individually wrapped. There's obviously a variety to choose from. However, I think we haven't consumed it in the best way possible. It was supposed to be re-heated (of course hot chocolate nga daw eh) but we just ate it right after we uncovered it. It was delicious but it was definitely a wrong moved. Reheating it would've made it more delightful by toning down the sweetness.

I'm grateful for the chocolates though. Thank you friend ;)

Sweets at Bo's Coffee Club

Earlier last night, my boyfriend and I were dismissed early from class. It wasn't just the time for dinner so we grabbed milk teas from a shop near our school. Since he'll be having exams next week and  I have a lot of backlogs waiting to be posted, we opted for a coffee shop.

The next thing we know is we're at Bo's Coffee Club, AGAIN. We never get tired of the place because of it's fast internet connection and ambiance. Moreover, we can just order coffee and we can stay there for a very long period of time.

This time was different for there were no frappes for us. We had brewed caffe americano and then we devoured these desserts - - - sweet cake!

Mud Pie
Php 120.00

Mud pie is a layered pie with chocolate as a base or crust with a gooey chocolate filling and is usually served with an ice cream. Bo's take on their mud pie is sort of different but it still have that original Mississippi resemblance.  Its crust has nuts, the next layer has chocolates and it's topped with cream or frosting that tastes delightful. Though the crust is  hard for the fork to get through because of the nuts, everything tastes amazingly fine. Rate 3/5

Old French Choco
Php 55.00

I found the perfect chocolate cake for me! It's sweetness is subtle; the exact sweetness you'll ever need from a chocolate cake. It has 2 layers. The inner is soft and chewy while the outer is crisp ad has a graham-like texture topped with confectioner's sugar. For its very affordable price and surprisingly delicious flavor I Rate it 5/5.

Today we just found the perfect pair for our hot coffee. I'll surely come back for more. I want to taste their New York Cheesecake and Almond Torte :)

New Royal Breadhaus Branch in Lanang

I'm a 1990's child and never really got the chance to spend enough time to know more about the local stores especially those that are proudly Davao's since I grew up in Cavite. I remember having a soft and warm pandesal or bonete for breakfast from various bakeries there. It's all the mini bread store in our place can offer because its the most saleable. Not much choices, right?

Davao, on the other hand, have a lot of food to offer in general. It's one of the Cities with the most number of local stores (i.e. clothing line, coffee shops, restaurants and even bakeshops or bread houses.).

With that, I want to share the newest branch of a home grown bakeshop in Davao. The Royal Breadhaus' 10th branch opened at a commercial area at Lanang near Phoenix gas station last November 10, 2012.

A few fellow Davao bloggers and I together with the other guests were invited to the grand opening of the Royal Breahaus Inc.'s latest branch. As we experienced their delightful delicacies and pastries, I must say that it must be the fruit of 29 years of mastery and hard work in the food industry. Mind you, there was never a franchised branch  because it's their family business and it's not surprising that all of their family members know how to bake.

Ms. Vivian Sison, Royal Breadhaus Inc. CEO, also shared that they are the industrial supplier of buns in the whole Mindanao (Shakey's, McDonald's...etc.)  and without further ado may I now present their products: Gourmet bread and Tricel's.

 

If you may have noticed under the Gourmet Bread, everything's not just for pastry  enthusiasts but for health conscious people as well who needs to watch  their sugar intake. These includes regular and wheat loaves, French bread, garlic bread, country rye bread and even turnovers. Ultimately delightful, right? And now, here's for those who loves sweets. Tricel's creations are the ones that'll fit your appetite :)
