Food Blog: Tummy Tale

Boy, what a transition! I re-visited my food blog (Tummy Tale) and I realized that I've abandoned it for 3 months already *shocked face* It's as if it was left out when I left for Manila. It makes me miss the food trips in Davao and my food trip partner, too.

I've decided to revive it and I hope you can visit it real soon. I have a lot of back log posts and new ones as well. Davao may really be a god spot for food bloggers but I think I can take advantage of my stay here in Manila. I can also be a gateway blogger for the food industry here in Cavite. I wish that these plans may push through.

Click on the link to be redirected to my food blog or you can just simply click the 'Food Blog' tab in my side bar. Thank you! :)

Bon Chon Ricebox

There's always a time for fast food chains. Why? Everybody enjoys hanging out at the mall but not everybody can really splurge on meals. It's nice that fast food chains are here to offer affordable and delicious food, not to mention, kids love them so much. One downside of this though is you get limited choices, mostly fried chicken. Legs, wings, thigh or breast part? Not much of a choice, right? It's basically fried chicken.

What do I like about Bon Chon is their signature double-fried chicken, ko-yo plus rice box value meals! They're affordable and it's something new because it opened it's first branch in the country last 2010. Yes, it's still fried chicken but it's tastier and crispier.

I'll leave the Chops Ricebox  review with my partner because I had their sweet and tender Beef Bulgogi. The serving is satisfactory and I really think that overall it's worth the price I paid. I can't wait to try the newest addition to their menu: Crunchy Chicken Bulgogi.

Tea Amo's Hickory Smoked Ribs

Tea Amo is not my usual lunch spot. I'd visit the place only if I'm craving for milk teas but this noon  was different. I remember grabbing cupcakes and wedges from the place but it's my first time to actually taste one of their rice meals.

It's actually nice to visit by lunch because there's only a few people hanging out at the place. It's as relaxing as ever especially when you see a lot of post-its on the wall where a lot of visitors place their doodles. It's simply cute and romantic in a way.

Scarlet Milk Tea
P80 (Large)

Wintermelon is always a safe choice when it comes to milk tea flavors. To veer away from the usual, I've tried Scarlet. It's refreshingly sweet and unique in flavor. Two thumbs up for this milk tea. I'd definitely be willing to shell out P80 for a milk tea of this size and of satisfying taste.

Hickory Smoked Ribs

Thumbs up. I like the presentation of the rice though the meat does not look so appetizing. In the contrary, I like that it was served in no time and the meat is and savory and spicy I just wish that it's tender as well. It has a fairly equal serving but I think I won't be spending for this again unless the meat is soft because I don't have any problem with its taste.

My next goal would be these very pleasant eye candies. I do hope that they taste as good as how they look. I can't wait devour them all. I'm not into sweets, madalas takaw-tingin lang talaga ako. (haha!)

I gladly ended the day by finishing my milk tea. I must agree when my boyfriend told me that if you're looking for certain kind of food, you must first try those places who specialize in it. For milk teas, Tea Amo will always have a special place in my heart :)

Starbucks Refreshments

I'm not really a coffee person and I do not regularly hang out at these kinds of places. I'm most certainly not a social climber, too. It's a joke/brand people make to label those who spend time at places, like Starbucks, to be acquainted to those who have a higher social status. For what it's worth, I don't really care. There's a lot of people who genuinely enjoy what the shop has to offer.

My boyfriend and I regularly visits Starbucks (in SM Annex, Davao) because he's comfortable in studying there while I love the staff and the place. I simply love how they enthusiastically greet all the customers that enter the door. Secondly, they never fail to amaze my boyfriend with their brews and blends. I, myself, have a lot of taste-testing to do.

When I still have my school papers, I'd usually stay at coffee shops to stay awake all through the night. Coffee + Internet connection = accomplished school tasks and caffeine overload. Now, I'm just waiting for my graduation, I don't have paper works anymore but I still come to the place but I tried to lessen my coffee intake. No more sleepless nights but I still get to enjoy Starbucks' ambiance.

When I blog, watch series or just accompany my boyfriend while he's studying, I get to enjoy being at the place. Since summer has officially started, for me, I've been  trying out their refreshments and I hope Cool Lime can be available really soon.

School's over and summer is here. Therefore, I shall be enjoying refreshments at my favorite Starbucks branch. I don't know what's with me these days but I enjoy a mixture of sweet and sour drinks. I've been inclined with ordering berry flavored beverages and what I love about Starbucks take on these types of drink is that the real fruit is being used. I'm loving Starbucks' summer refreshments :)

The Metro Burgers

Indeed, another burger joint has conquered the metro.
It was opened to the public last February 18, Monday, at Juan Dela Cruz Street
(fronting Metro Bank). To make it easier for you to find the place,
below's a map guide to help you find your way into an amazing burger experience.

It is a cozy place for people to hang-out and grab a snack.
However, the place is not air-conditioned but I assure you that
it is well-ventilated. Wifi connection is coming soon
so worry not about that matter. If you already had your TMB experience,
you may share it at The Metro Burgers Facebook Page :)

Hawaiian Burger
Php 100.00

Here's what I ordered and my buena mano TMB experience.
Whoever says pineapple fits best a Hawaiian pizza may now think twice.
The sliced pineapple contradicts the grease of the patty while the salty and slightly
sour taste harmoniously blends inside my mouth. This is an affordable,
 delicious and satisfying burger.

. . .you can never find the cheese unless you have a bite.
TMB has uniquely placed the cheese inside their patty and not in between
the bun and the patty. That's something new. Moreover, their buns are
custom-made for them so you'll surely have a new burger experience
that will sweep you off your feet.

Regular

Mexican
Php 100.00

Chinese

Regular, Mexican, Chinese, Bacon & Mushroom, Double or my Hawaiian?
What do you crave for? :)

Peri-Peri Charcoal Chicken at SM Davao

Ola Señorita! What an entertaining and lively greeting from Peri-Peri, a chicken diner famous for its charcoal chicken. Another distinctive trademark of  the restaurant is its wide array of spicy food hence the name Peri-Peri which translates into chili peppers or peppers in Portugal.

It has a very minimalist but interesting interior and is located in the annex of SM City Davao. On the other hand, it is very criticized for the poor service of the place most especially the behavior of the service crew. I've been here for a few times and all of those visits were satisfying: the food is great and I haven't noticed an ill-mannered staff.

However, I cannot talk in behalf of everybody. I like the place and the food they serve. The management should do something regarding their image to their other customers especially to those who haven't had a wonderful time dining at the area.

Everyday Platter A
Php 235.00
1/4 Peri Chicken, 2pcs, corn flaked chicken tenders, corn and carrots, java rice and gravy.
My boyfriend and I usually orders  the value meal first to have a test taste and of course to save money.  The platter A is favorite for it's good for sharing. We asks the staff to cut the chicken into two and orders an extra rice for the other.

Peri Chicken
It's unique taste is what sets it apart from other chicken restaurants. With or without the gravy, you can savor the chicken's tasty and juicy meat. Lemon, mild hot or hot and spicy; these are the variations you can choose from. I personally like the hot and spicy because it goes well with the java rice.

Chicken Tenders
I think that it can outshine the Peri  chicken especially  for the children. It's delicious and the breading is just extra-special. I don't know how to explain it but it tastes special at least for me.

Solo Java Rice
Php 35.00
It's affordable for a huge cup of rice. If you're eating with a bigger group you may order the Jumbo Java Rice for Php 58.00.

Jalapeno Cheese Fries
Php 58.00
These fries are one of my favorites. I love spicy food and I like how the cheese and the jalapeno taste so good together. Moreover, for a Php 58.00 price you get to enjoy a delicious and real potato fries that is beyond the usual.

Bottomless Soup and Beverage for Php 49.00
While a single glass of drink may cost this much to other restaurants, you can get an unlimited drinks and soup (of any kind available) at Peri-Peri for as low as 49 pesos.

Soup
For that particular day we tasted corn and mushroom soup. They are equally delightful and more importantly it's good that it's always served warm.

Beverage
It is indeed quite an assortment. You can choose between soft drinks, brewed coffee and my favorite green iced tea.

Now I don't think that we're one of the unsatisfied customers. We were as happy and as full as the first time we visited Peri-Peri.

Since there's a lot to try in their menu, we'll certainly re-visit and we hope that there'll be consistency with the products and of course with their service.

Our overall experience rate would be: 4.5/5

Mandarin Tea Garden Favorites

Western, Filipino, Italian, Korean, Japanese or Chinese cuisine? Name it and Davao has it. Rice toppings, noodles, DimSum, short orders, hot tea to cold beverages, assorted fruit salad to juices - - - Mandarin Tea Garden has it.

Chinese have influenced Filipinos in many ways most especially in the food we love to eat. Lumpiang Shanghai have been a staple food in Pinoy birthday celebrations all throughout the years.

Crispy Spring Rolls
My favorite appetizer. In fact, it can be my viand. You can't imagine how stuffed it is inside and that these 3-pc. rolls are worth every penny. In addition, it matches well with its sauce. In short, hindi pinilit. Rate: 5/5

Halo-Halo Lugaw
My boyfriend's favorite in Mandarin is their porridge (lugaw in Tagalog). What makes it special are the contents inside the soup plus the pinoy special style - - -egg. Don't you just love to have some porridge especially when the weather is cold. Yummy! :) Rate: 4/5

Pork Chop Rice Toppings
These are the food I do not miss ordering at Mandarin Tea Garden. They are budget-friendly and very satisfying because of its reasonable serving. Beef, chicken, pork or seafood? Choose a topping from many options laid down before you. I personally like beef ampalaya, pork asado and this pork chop. Rate: 4/5

Service Tea

Complimentary Soup

Another worthwhile dining experience down. If you wish to dine at Mandarin for lunch, make sure that you're quite early from other lunch grabbers. A lot of people really look forward to eat lunch at Mandarin so it can be a little crowded by noon time. Dinner is a much better time to visit the place though.

Rice All You Can the Dencio's Kamayan Way

I can never stop sharing how abundant Davao is. Gorgeous people, great places and most especially good food not to mention that it's also affordable.

I grew up in Cavite and I can honestly say that my mom always cooks good food so we can save money. Considering what would we be spending eating outside, the equivalent amount of food we'd get would just be enough.

Enough in the sense that "gusto mo pa pero yun na yun." Ayoko pa naman ng nabibitin ako lalo na sa kanin.  The price of a  small cup of rice at fast food and restaurants is not a joke and it may range from Php 15-75 depending on where you are dining. Yes, it's that expensive for a cup of rice. A price a student's purse cannot fathom.

And with that, I thank rice-all- you-can restaurants here in Davao. The only famous one of that kind in Cavite is Mang Inasal.

Once upon a time my boyfriend and I was hungry. We're at the mall and fast food is not an option so we decided to grab lunch at Dencio's Kamayan. Dencio's started in 1998 as a family restaurant which offers affordable Filipino cuisine. It grew so fast and popular that it became part of the dining experience of both locals and visitors.

Both of us ordered Pares 1: Pork BBQ and Ribs. They served this value meal with two cups of rice and of course you can always ask for more given that you can finish them all.

We also had adobong kangkong and oh I just missed my mom's adobo. I love the sweetness of Dencio's version however it seems that there's a small amount of kangkong compared to the pork in it. It's as if we ordered pork adobo.

So there you go, if you suddenly miss Filipino comfort food but you don't want to be troubled cooking, you may stop by at Dencio's Kamayan. It's open for lunch and dinner everyday at its operating branches.

Overall Rate: 9/10 We will surely go back for more :)

Oh! I'm Giddy and excited. I decided to create another blog and it's niche is - - - FOOD :) It feels great to know I've decided on where to focus and what exactly do I want to write about.
